In Santiago, July 20, 2009

Hello, and thanks for checking in on my trip. I arrived late on Saturday night–after an hour delay on the tarmac in Miami for repairs. I was up early and off to church with a group who is here from Crosspoint Community Church in Nashville. We went to the church where Moise preaches. Moise is a Haitian pastor who ministers in Santiago. He is a always in my classes when I teach here, and he is a very good student of the Bible.
I was also asked to preach at the church here in the neighborhood (Hoya del Camito) last night. I just found out yesterday afternoon that I was scheduled to preach because of some crossed communications. I normally will bring a couple of extra sermons with me in case of just such a situations, but this trip I forgot to do that somehow! It all turned out fine, though. I preached from Acts 16:6-10–a text I had preached a few other times–on finding direction from God. It all seemed to go well.
The staff here have been very encouraging about our recent decison to begin working to G.O. Ministries full-time. Those encouraging conversations have been a blessing in a time of real uncertainty.
Today I am finishing preparations for my class which will begin on Wedenesday. Please continue to pray for me. Many thanks!
