Summer 2009 Trip to the Dominican Republic
Posted by Brian on Jun 10 2009
My summer trip to the DR to train pastors is fast approaching. The dates this year are July 21st to August 2nd. The subject that I’ll be teaching is Principles of Scriptural Interpretation.
You might notice that I’ll be gone for two weeks this trip. I’m excited about this because it is going to allow me to teach two separate groups of pastors. I’ll be teaching the group that I’ve taught before in Santiago, and then I’ll be traveling to the DR border with Haiti in order to teach a group of Haitian pastors who are partnered with the work of G.O. Ministries. Additionally I’ll have a chance to do some small group and one-on-one mentoring with leaders while I’m in the country.
Teaching these pastors is a huge responsibility and one I take very seriously. There is no greater joy I experience, however, than using the gifts which God has given me in service to these faithful ministers. They accomplish so much with so few resources, and they are so grateful for and hungry for the teaching that we bring.
This trip is going to cost $1,500. I’d invite you to think about partnering with me financially. Any support I receive above the cost of the trip I’ll use in direct support of the plans we have for the education of Church leaders in the DR. The support I receive helps me do this in a practical sense, but I can’t tell you what an encouragement it is to me spiritually to know that my brothers and sisters in the Church feel that what I am doing is important enough to share in. Thank you!
There are three ways to give:
1) You can send a check to this address:
G.O. Ministries
11501 Plantside Drive, Suite 14
Louisville, KY 40299
Just make sure to include my name “Brian Johnson” in the memo line.
2) You can give with a credit card or through an automatic withdrawal from your checking account. The form can be found here in a box on the right hand side, or let me know and I’ll send you an electronic or hard copy. You just fill out the form and fax or mail it in. On the form you are “the Partner,” and just include my name in the “Supporting” line.
3) Finally, on that same website (http://www.go-ministries.org/give.shtml) you can give online through your PayPal account. Do note, however, that PayPal will charge you 3.5% for the convenience of doing it online.
I’ll receive a notice of your giving so that I can offer you my personal thanks.
I would ask everyone to be in prayer for me as I prepare so that I can teach what God would have me to teach and in a way that makes sense contextually. Pray for travel safety, and also pray for my voice and health while I’m in the country. Always join with me in praying for the staff of G.O. Ministries and our national partners.
I’ve been thinking about prayer a lot lately. I plan on writing a few words about that on here soon, so watch for that. I also want to encourage you to consider what you, or your group, or your church could do in partnering with some of these great, national leaders that I am privileged to teach. Partnership is at the heart of what G.O. Ministries is about. Click here to find out more information about this opportunity. I also will soon be announcing some exciting plans in connection leader education and G.O. Ministries. Be watching for some cool news about that as well!

[...] would have been frustrated by this, or even discouraged. Our plans had been ruined! I’ve shared with you all how excited I have been that we were going to be able to offer this class to the Haitian guys. [...]
