Summer 2009 Trip to the Dominican Republic
Posted by Brian on Jul 11 2008
I’m leaving tomorrow for another trip to the Dominican Republic to teach a class to some of the national pastors there. This time I’ll be teaching the Gospel of John. G. O. Ministries makes these trips a reality, and they are a great organization. I’m really looking forward to this trip. This has been the most financially supported trip that I’ve taken to the DR. You need to understand that it’s not just about the money, however. The financial support is indicative of the number of people who think what I am doing in the DR is valuable, and who believe in this ministry. It helps me to know that I am doing the right thing when I go to the DR to teach.
This trip I’m taking along one of my supporters and a good friend, Paul Laiming, whom I met while I was interim minister at the First United Church in Gridley, IL. Paul and his wife Susan have become good friends of Josanne and me, as have other people from our time in that ministry. Paul is a businessman, and has good instincts when it comes to business and finances. It is going to be an encouragement to have Paul along, and I really look forward to his insights. I’m interested to hear what he thinks about the ministry that is going on in the DR.
I’d appreciate any prayers you would offer for me in the next week (we’ll return Saturday, 7/19). The schedule in the DR can be grueling and the temperatures are hot this time of year, so it can really sap you. I’m always very aware of the sustaining power of the prayers that are offered for me during an intense week. Thank you for your prayers and for your financial support. I’ll be talking with Jeff Rogers while I’m in the DR about plans for the next time down. If you’d like me to keep you informed about forthcoming trips, and other ways you can support the ministry in the DR, email me at: BDJohnson67@verizon.net, and keep watching this space.
